Community Health Announcement
A community health service announcement due to the
current influenza season:
If members or their children have symptoms such as a
fever, sore throat, coughing, vomiting or diarrhea –
please be mindful as to whether coming to Shul is
advisable. The viruses presently circulating are highly
contagious and infectious – they spread by droplets
and are in the secretions one coughs or sneezes, and
on anything one touches with one’s hands should they
have come into contact with the virus. In our Shul, the
virus can survive on Seforim, seats and other surfaces.
Kol Yisrael Areivim Ze LaZeh – we all need to be
concerned for the health of those around us. Please
be considerate of others and consult with your
physician as to whether you should be around others
during that time.
Hand washing and Purell are very effective means of
controlling the spread of the virus. Purell dispensers
are at each of the sink areas. Parents should help
their children “wash” their hands with Purell when
entering and leaving groups. Group leaders will be
receiving training so that they can better adhere to
these guidelines.
Members may wish to consult with their physicians and
explore the options of vaccination against the regular
flu and the H1N1 virus.
